ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI SCHOOL WILL COMMENCE THE 2005-2006 ACADEMIC YEAR WITH THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE Wednesday, Sept. 7 - only grades 5-8 will attend school from 8AM to 11:30AM. Child must bring tuition pass in order to be admitted to the classroom. Parent Orientation for grades 5 & 6 will be that night beginning in the classrooms at 7:00PM. Stationery will be sold 5:45PM-6: 45PM in room 17 of the Upper Building. Thursday, Sept. 8 only grades 1-4 will attend school from 8AM to 11:30AM. Child must bring tuition pass in order to be admitted to the classroom. Parent Orientation for grades 1-4 will be that night beginning at 7:00PM in the classrooms. Opening of School Mass at 9:30AM and Volunteer Sign-Ups at 10:30AM in Conway Hall (building behind the Church). Monday, Sept. 12 ALL STUDENTS will report to school by 8:00AM and will be dismissed at 2:40PM. Kindergarten parents have received a letter detailing their schedule. If you have not received this letter, please contact the school. Kindergarten children must bring tuition pass in order to be admitted to the classroom. Parent Orientation for Kindergarten and grades 7 & 8 will be that night beginning at 7;00 PM in the classrooms for Grades 7 & 8 and in Conway Hall for the Kindergarten. Celebrating the Year of the Eucharist PLANS ARE BEING MADE to send a BUS from St. Francis to celebrate the Eucharistic Holy hour and Benediction along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia on Sunday, September 18, 2005 from 6PM-7:30PM. This prayerful event will mark the close of the Year of the Eucharist for our Archdiocese. He is present to us and gives Himself to us in each Eucharistic Liturgy. The Lord promised to be present to the community of believers, His Church, and with each of us who believes. This promise is fulfilled every day, especially in the Eucharist.Jesus willed that His Church starting with the Apostles should preserve the fullness of His revelation down to this day.We find here the means He willed for us to preserve intact His teaching, to live in unity in the fullness of His love, and to deepen our relationship with Him begun at Baptism. The goal of a Christian's life is to grow into deeper union of mind and will and heart with Jesus Christ, especially through the reception of Jesus Himself in the Eucharist, to the praise and glory of the Father. This means to confront ourselves clearly with the full challenge of the Gospel, to step forward and hand our lives over fully to the Lord. The Lord is asking each person personally to make a total surrender of their life to Him. The challenge cannot be watered down. We must make the conscious decision to answer the call of Jesus, to place ourselves under His lordship. To throw our lot in with the Lord. To fully accept the Lord's design for our life. Jesus must be chosen as Lord, not half-heartedly, but fully. What happens next is not within our control: It is an experience of Jesus in which we start to know Him not because of what we read or hear but to know the reality of Jesus, in His own Person. To live in a relationship of sustained intimacy with the Lord. Hearts and eyes turned to Jesus
As in ancient times, we proclaim that Jesus Christ, the Son of God who suffered, died and rose for our salvation, lives. He promised to stay with us. And so He has -- now into the third millennium. Jesus is Lord! He is really present in the Eucharist as He is in heaven. And present to us and with us and for us in our hearts. This we proclaim to all the world as members of His Church to the glory of the Father. Our relationship with Jesus is found in our relationship with the community of Jesus, the Church. The way to Christ is still through the community in which He lives.
