Sacrament of Matrimony

The Sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church; the grace of the sacrament thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity, and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life. (CCC 1661)

Engaged couples, when at least one party is a member of Saint Francis, should contact one of the priests to arrange for their marriage.  Archdiocesan marriage policy calls for an initial notice at least six months in advance of the desired wedding date – a longer period of pre-marriage preparations is strongly encouraged.

All couples are responsible to participate in a Pre-Cana program conducted by either the Archdiocese or another Catholic parish.
